LEGO Challenge Club

Join together with other LEGO Builders for a fun, Month of the Military Child themed building challenge!

Planets Virtual Science Dome Field Trip 

Grades K - 1

What makes a planet a planet? Which planets are currently visible in the sky? Is Mercury really boring? How old is Jupiter’s Great Red Spot? What makes the outer planets different from the inner planets? Learn the answers to these questions and more in this tour of the 8 planets in our solar system!

Time: 9:30 - 10:10 am

Location: Zoom

Additional Information: All kindergarten and first grade students will experience a 30 minute live, virtual planetarium presentation on planets in our Solar System. They will then participate in a 10 minute live Q&A session with an astronomer.

Comets, Asteroids and Dwarfs, Oh My! Virtual Science Dome Field Trip 

Grades 2 - 3

Learn about the small objects in our Solar System including comets, asteroids and dwarf planets! What makes comets and asteroids different from each other? Why is Pluto “the dwarf planet” and no longer Pluto “the planet”? How many dwarf planets are out there, and what are they like?

Time: 12:30 - 1:10 pm

Location: Zoom

Additional Information: All second and third grade students will experience a 30 minute live, virtual planetarium presentation on comets, asteroids and dwarf planets in our Solar System. They will then participate in a 10 minute live Q&A session with an astronomer.

Our Place in the Universe Virtual Science Dome Field Trip 

Grades 4 - 5

Learn about the size and scale of the universe. What does the universe look like on a cosmic scale, and is our place in the universe unique or special? Drift through our local group and discover where we fit into our corner of the universe.

Time: 1:40 - 2:20 pm

Location: Zoom

Additional Information: All fourth and fifth grade students will experience a 30 minute live, virtual planetarium presentation on Earth's place in the universe. They will then participate in a 10 minute live Q&A session with an astronomer.
